Children:

"Let the little children come to me:  do not stop them for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs."  Mark 10:14

Just as Jesus did, we welcome children to the ministries of Dayton United Methodist Church.  At Dayton, children are an active, vital part of our church community.

All children's activities relate to the vision of our church that includes growth in faith, service to others, Christian love for others, and sharing of the Word.

At DUMC we are committed to promoting the spiritual growth of our youngest members. We do this through a variety of ministries. Sunday School classes are offered for all children throughout the year. Children’s moments in both of our worship services and children’s church is offered throughout the school year at the 11a.m. service.   Our VBS program is held in July and we have 3 social events throughout the year in addition to our Young Followers program that meets on Sunday evenings for students in the 3rd thru the 6th grades and meets on Sunday evenings.

The Children's Ministries Team, composed of 5 members, plans and carries out programs and activities that support the vision of Dayton UMC. Meetings are held on the every other month.

United Methodist Youth Fellowship:

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4: 12

Dayton U.M. Youth offer a variety of programs for those in 7th through 12 grades. We are blessed with a fine group of young people that gather for Sunday School each week. Our youth participate in worship on a regular basis, play in the Youth Handbell program and meet on Sunday evenings for a meal and Youth Fellowship. The Dayton United Methodist Youth meet primarily on Sunday evenings, with special events planned quarterly.

Adult Fellowship:

Opportunities for adult fellowship consist of being part of small group of 8 that meets monthly for socials. In addition to Sunday School classes , Bible studies are offered throughout the year. Currently we have a monthly Women’s Bible Study and a Companion in Christ study that meets during the fall and winter seasons. We participate in Church Softball in the summers and invite our members to do volunteer in mission trips each year.

United Methodist Men:

Our Men’s group meets on the first Sunday of the month at 7:30 for a breakfast fellowship. The men are actively engaged in supporting missionson a local and Conference level and volunteer their skills in projects in the church fellowship and neighborhood. Recently the men have built a house for Habitat for Humanity and been to Mississippi to work on homes that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Women's Ministries:

Bible Study:     This monthly Women's Bible study meets in homes on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. This fellowship group is open to all the women of the church. For more information contact Connie Gilmer at Dayton UMC.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: This group of women meet monthly to pray and knit prayer shawls. Started in 2007 they have sent out over 57 shawls to people in need of God’s healing hand.
